Go Favre!

Brett Favre just surpassed Dan Marino to be have the most career touchdown with his 421st touchdown pass!

Favre is an excellent example of what a quarterback is, not to mention he's FINE. How does this man get better with age? That's it! I'm making that a requirement for my future husband. You MUST get better with age, because I know I will!

In other news, I am so glad the NFL is finally making better clothes for women to wear. I love that commercial with the women meeting for sunday football!

booo rex.

Unfortunately, I couldn't see the Indy v. Chi-town game, but I did see the end, and I know that the Colts lost. All I have to say about that one... is that Rex and his team couldn't cut it when it counted, so shut up Bears.

In other news, today was the first day of school. I feel like I've been doing the whole school thing too long. Dang, my "senioritis" is ALREADY kicking in. But this semester promises to be SO BUSY and dare, I say? HARD? Next semester, hopefully I will be on easy street. Maybe so. Tonight was my good friend Chelsea's 21st birthday! She got "officially effed up" at D&B tonight. It just got me thinking! I'm about to turn 21! What am I going to do for my birthday?! I want to have a group dinner, but then again, I don't...unless I pay for everyone, because I don't want to have to go through asking everyone to cough up money. That's why I say SEPARATE CHECKS or one person pay for the whole thing!

Don't Try Too Hard

One thing that I cannot stand about people is when they try too hard to be something they are not. These things range from cool to smart. If you know things, good for you, but don't pretend you know everything. Like I tell people, I'm not a know it all, I just speak about things that I know. My boss who has been here for about a month is the most annoying person in the world. He thinks that because he is older, but still "in touch" with pop culture, that he is the most knowledgable person in the world.

I hate doubters. I hate when people don't expect much out of me and are pleasantly surprised. Wait, I think I have a love/hate relationship with that. I like surprising people, but then I get offended because they thought one thing about me that was completely untrue. It is annoying. That is what my boss does. He tries to come off as really cool, but he's really lame! Thank GOD he is leaving to get another job, so that once again, I can relax at my job! Another one bites the dust!

random

  • I am such a bad blogger. I was supposed to be blogging everyday! But I have been sidetracked!
  • My sister already left for Bethesda.
  • I accomplished one of my (secret) goals
  • now the summer is almost over! I have to report back to school for R.A. Training on August 5th. SICK! Where did this summer go?

I am planning on going to the beach on August 4th... because that will be my last chance to go to the beach, as I work this saturday. I mean, we could always go on Sunday, but with all this freaking rain in Houston, that it seeming impossible. Oh, and now I am going to get my Harry Potter at 11 tonight. SO excited. Nobody tell me ANYTHING!

ain't it funny...

I think its sad that women nowadays, especially girls my age are so slutty. Especially at my university, the girls parade themselves on Facebook in half naked (TACKY) ensembles. It's really annoying.

Of course, I admit to some vanity in seeing myself in pictures, but I would never ever disgrace myself like that. These are the same girls that say things like "Stay classy" and all that other tripe. I think it's really disgusting. Taking pictures of yourself in bikini tops and posing all 'seductively' (when they really just look constipated) is NOT CLASSY. All these girls want to be 'models' and 'actresses' and get some random man to pictures of them and then they post it on Facebook to their male admirers.

Please believe that is not hating... because hating would imply that I am jealous, and having no respect for yourself is something I am DEFINITELY not jealous of.

I guess it would be okay (not really) if I didn't have to see these profiles of said girls, but when you surf Facebook (or even MySpace), the profiles are thrown in your face. There is nothing wrong with being ambitious but women, please do it in a tasteful, non-degrading way, so that you can be considered a LADY.

My dad taught me that there is a difference between a woman and a lady, and I am a FIRM believer in that. It's like what I was telling my dad today. They call stripclubs "GENTLEMAN CLUBS"! It's like, 'WHAT KIND OF GENTLEMAN is going to a STRIPCLUB!'

amazing parents

I have the most amazing parents. Sometimes they get on my nerves, but most of the time they are just amazing. I just want to take some time out to THANK THEM for everything they've done for me. Even though most of the time I might not say that I appreciate them, I want to put it out there for the whole world to see!

I LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD.

They spent 4 hours in a car with me, my sister, and my neice to take us to the Nelly Furtado concert in Grand Prairie, Texas! I traveled all the way to see Nelly Furtado, and she was AMAZING. I love her even more! She sang all my favorites, and really mixed them up. Ahhhh! Love her!

Internship

I really hate the thing about internships. You can't get a job unless you have one, and sometimes you can't get an internship unless you have previous experience! It really frustrates me, especially because I don't look exactly amazing on my resume! I haven't done a lot of things, and especially in the fashion public relations field, I've done nothing! All the internships I want are for fashion p.r. firms, most notably, Paul Wilmot Communications! They represent a lot of celeb-turned-designer brands, such as Sean Paul, William Rast (Justin Timberlake), J.Lo, and L.A.M.B., and House of Dereon.

I am still in contact with one of the people that works there, and I asked them to please let me know if anyone needs any extra help. I am completely ready to jet to New York City (where I would have a place to stay) if the moment calls for it. Ahhhh.

I want to breakaway from this monotony of going to work at Blaffer as a gallery attendant and move on to something I feel more passionate about!

RANDALL'S RANT!

Today is Memorial Day and on this day, it is rainy, which generally puts me in a bad mood. But I try to have a good outlook. Anyway, in preparation for our "Memorial Day Feast", my dad and I had to take a trip to Randall's to get our ingredients. To make a long story short, we shopped and got everything, and as we were coming out and I had the basket and as we were walking in the parking lot, I was passing by a car, and I noticed that it had its brake lights on, and so I started walking past it and as I was doing so, the car started backing up... so I hurried up and got out of dodge. What the heck man?! I'm trying to walk here!

So then NATURALLY, I look at the car and its nasty woman and I give her the meanest glare EVER in the history of world. I kept on looking back because I was so pissed off. WHO BACKS UP WHEN THERE ARE PEOPLE BEHIND THEIR CAR?! Anyway, so we walk over to the car, and start loading the groceries in the back and the car is driving by slowly, and the nasty woman (who turned out to be white) has her window rolled down with her hands raised, like, "WHAT?!" and I looked at her like fire was in my eyes, and put down my groceries, and I was like "WHAT'S UP?!" and she kept on looking, so I made the motion of "TURN AROUND" like 8 million times with the GREAT fervor. lol. I was SO mad.

They finally drove off, and I told my dad, "She was about to get beat in the parking lot of Randalls!" He just laughed! I was SO mad. Yeah, so that was my rant.

But you know what, she probably has a hard life, so I shouldn't blame her too much. UGGGH.

New Post @ Cougar Style

Check out http://cougarstyle.blogspot.com for a new post!

That's Good Yaki!

I had some good sushi with my sister, Brandi, and Sam tonight. Now I finally know what a phoenix roll, and all these other good things are. Sushi is muy caro! (expensive en Espanol!) But I think was worth it. After that we had some gelato. I have a weird aftertaste in my mouth though. It is sort of peppery, and I feel like its a part of the Crunchy Eel roll that we had.

But so far, my favorite sushi roll is Tiger Eye! So good. So creamy! And it was so weird that the Philly Roll we had tasted like a baked potato in the middle. I think that it was because of the cream cheese in it.

I straightened my hair, but I feel like it was in a funk or something because I felt like my hair isn't as straight as it was when I first used to straighten it! :/ Or maybe it was just because it was really humid outside!

In other news, Rosie is leaving the view three weeks early! :/ I agree with Rosie in this fight, and I think that Elizabeth Hasselbeck/back is so annoying and STUPID. I don't understand how you can think that the war in Iraq is a good idea when 70% of American people (and countless other people in the world) and POLITICIANS think that it was NOT a good idea! Ugh. I think that she is so brainwashed about being a Republican/conservative that she just BLINDLY agrees to things that she thinks that conservatives agree with.

I would say that I am a Democrat, but there are things that I don't agree with, or have questions about. I look at things as issues, not as things that a Democrat/Liberal person should agree with. For example, gay marriage. Not completely sure how I feel about that... and as a Catholic, I am pro-choice, even though that is not necessarily how Catholics are supposed to feel. But stem cell research, WE SHOULD DO IT!

I just hope that people vote based on the ISSUES, not what they think they should vote for just because of their political affiliation!

Costume Met Picks & Pans

I know there have been numerous postings about this event, but I wanted to share my two cents! Here's how I felt about some of the fashion choices on the red carpet.

A MESS:

Jessica Simpson looks horrible in this dress. Her hair, makeup, everything, just looks TACKY. Well, I take that back, I kind of like her hair.

Cate Blanchett is usually my girl. She is one of the few A-List actresses that actually takes chances on the red carpet. But here, I think she just looks A MESS. I heard that she was hosting and she was going for the edgy look, but her makeup and hair really don't enhance the dress. The dress itself isn't so bad, but you put them all together, and they just don't work.

DIVAAAAAAAAAAS!

How gorgeous does Iman look in this stunning white pantsuit. Her hair is kind of crazy, but it's Iman! Plus, I am a sucker for black woman/white guy couples! Look how dapper David Bowie looks!

Paula Patton and husband Robin Thicke are one of my favorite couples! They are so beautiful together. Paula looks GORGEOUS in this white dress and I am thankful to see Robin Thicke in something other than shell-toes. (adidas...)

BEST DRESSED
Camilla Belle looks ethereal in this beautiful Gaultier Paris Haute Couture gown! Her hair, makeup, and dress all go together. She is definitely on my list as one to watch for her style choices. Classy and glamorous!

Cooking

There are a couple of things that I would like to work on during this summer, and one of those is cooking! I found this recipe, and I want to make it. In fact, I am going to go to the store and get the ingredients soon!

Hearty Broccoli Dip
Cook time: 2-3 hrs (in a slow cooker... but I don't have one, so I am just going to cook it over regular heat!)

1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. velveeta cubed
1 can of condensed cream of mushroom
1 package (10 oz.) frozen chopped broccoli, thawed
2 tablespoons of salsa

In a skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink. Drain/
Transfer to a slow cooker. Add cheese, soup, broccoli, and salsa. Mix well.

Cover and cook for 2-3 hrs or until heated through, stirring after 1 hour. Serve with tortilla chips!

*If I make it, I'm going to take a picture. Happy Cooking!

Kerry Washington: My New Style Icon

For years... okay maybe not years, but for a while, I have searched for a black actress or model or anyone in the public eye, that had style that I loved! It was Halle Berry, but I've moved on to Kerry Washington now. Whatever she wears is amazing and she looks great in it!

She really knows how to wear things to flatter her body. She's not flashy like some other people (Beyonce...) and is just classy and still glamorous!

eh

All my recent blog quests have inspired me to restart my blog. I had one in the 10th grade (which was like 2001!) but I think blogger.com erased that one long time ago. At least I hope so. I intend to post things about fashion and celebrities, as well as random observations made in my life.

Like the title of my blog, this is just a place for my ramblings... which are a lot. YAY.
